College Prep - Fall Semester Essay


We will draft and submit the essay online - so you will have access to your work from any computer, smartphone, etc. with internet access.  You will have today, tomorrow, and Monday in class to work on this assignment - it is due NO LATER THAN 12/19 (Friday).

Do your research and planning today.

Rough draft in class tomorrow.

Revisions and final drafts in class Monday.

Any additional time you need will be outside of class - though you may come in during tutorial times next week to work on the Chromebooks in the classroom.  This essay is a major grade for this class - but is also a non-negotiable part of the College of the Mainland curriculum.  You cannot receive credit for this class if you do not complete the essay.

It will need to be at least 3 pages in length (600+ words) and you will need to include information from 3-4 outside sources.  The instruction page suggests chapters in the Real Writing book that will be helpful to you in this process.  Be sure to use that resource as well.

And on to the Renaissance and Shakespeare and Macbeth.

Today in class, we will be finishing up the reading quizzes over the works of Medieval Literature we read - "The Pardoner's Tale", "The Wife of Bath's Tale", and "Gawain and the Green Knight".

Be sure you are working on something - we will take the exam in class tomorrow.

Keep working on the Medieval Period webquest - we SHOULD be nearly finished with this part.  We will quiz over this material on Wednesday in class.  You will be able to use the notes you've gathered.

In addition, the quiz will cover the pilgrims in The Prologue of The Canterbury Tales.  Be sure to include details about them - who they were, how they were described, etc.

Finally wrapping up Beowulf project presentations today.  Thanks for a great day in the Career Center yesterday working on our college applications.  Many of us had already taken care of that earlier in the semester, but it was good for everyone to have some more time with it.
